Discovered as a junior resident pianist at Sydney’s Shangri-La while completing her Bachelor at the Australian Institute of Music, Annie was scouted to perform in full scale productions, including character tributes such as the Lady Gaga Born this Way Tribute Show. Now, Annie Z (Annie Almeida) as a personality in her own right, consumes the stage as lead singer for her corporate dance band and duo, “Soulective”, her acoustic duo “Fresh Eyes”, and touring Sydney theatres in the new release of “Duets the Show” as well as the internationally-acclaimed “Dancing in the Shadows of Motown”.
Annie’s career highlight was to perform as the opening act for Grammy-Award winning legend, Dionne Warwick at The Star Sydney during her 2018 tour, and has since been honoured to return to the venue as a resident soloist performer.
Annie Z is a uniquely diverse entertainer, working hard to perfect the widest range of styles (from A to Z!), and even in several languages, singing loved-classics in Mandarin, Japanese, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
Annie thrives in exciting innovative recording projects for a variety of independent producers and writers, celebrating the most recent success of the Eurythmics remix “Here Comes The Rain Again” [Perfecto Records], a collaboration with American producer, Roger-M.
Annie is also a prolific songwriter with a passion to co-create, consult, coach and produce fellow talent. whilst keeping a fresh live show, featuring alongside artists in clubs, festivals, corporate and private functions, and shows enthusiasm for using her gifts to support community events and compassionate causes.
Annie is all about expanding her sound based on understanding what you want to hear and feel. Combining splashes of piano runs over eastern-influenced vocal hooks, she refreshes favourite hits into acoustic and jazz covers, bespoke mashups, soul jams through to crowd dance-floor favourites. With a sound that is marked by a mind-blowing, authentic and colourful vocal energy, she demonstrates her passion to create the atmosphere that your event needs. Annie Z believes that a voice means nothing until it connects with its audience.
